Description The herbaceous perennial Thymus praecox (creeping thyme) bears showy and faded purple blossoms during early summer. The matte foliage is deep green in colour, fine in texture, aromatic and evergreen.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, container, culinary, edging, ground cover, lawn and vegetable garden.
Special Characteristics Butterflies are attracted to Thymus praecox . Thymus praecox is tolerant of drought. In the winter, Thymus praecox provides winter interest.
Cautions Where conditions are favourable, Thymus praecox (creeping thyme) can be invasive and may require maintenance to keep it under control. This plant is self-sowing and may spread broadly and randomly.
