Description Thymus praecox var. arcticus (creeping thyme) bears showy and faded purple blossoms during mid-summer. This herbaceous perennial is low trailing in form and has deep green foliage that is matte, fine textured, evergreen and aromatic.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, container, culinary, edging, lawn and vegetable garden.
Special Characteristics Butterflies are attracted to Thymus praecox var. arcticus . Thymus praecox var. arcticus is tolerant of drought.
Cautions Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
