Description The annual Lobularia maritima (sweet alyssum) yields showy, white, fragrant and repeat-blooming blossoms during mid-spring to early summer. This plant is low trailing in form and has matte, fine textured and semi-evergreen foliage that is faded green in colour.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, annual, bedding plant, border, container and edging.
Special Characteristics Lobularia maritima tolerates drought and salt.
Cautions The growth rate of Lobularia maritima (sweet alyssum) is fast and you should plan for this in your garden design and layout. Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
