Description Itea virginica (virginia sweetspire) bears showy, white and fragrant flowers during late spring to mid-summer. This deciduous shrub is a thicket in form and has medium green foliage that is showy, glossy and medium textured. The bark is showy and smooth in texture.
Typical Uses Border, edging and foundation.
Special Characteristics Butterflies are attracted to Itea virginica . In autumn, Itea virginica is alight with fall colour.
Cautions This plant is self-sowing, and without intervention may spread broadly and randomly.
