Description The herbaceous perennial Dicentra eximia (fringed bleeding heart) is repeat-blooming and bears showy and light mauve blooms during mid-spring to mid summer. The showy matte foliage is greyish aquamarine in colour and medium in texture.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, border, container, cut flowers, edging, ground cover, foundation, mass planting and wild flower.
Special Characteristics Hummingbirds are attracted to Dicentra eximia . This plant has a natural ability to resist deer.
Cautions Be advised that Dicentra eximia (fringed bleeding heart) may be invasive where conditions are favourable. In such cases it will require maintenance to keep it under control. This plant is self-sowing, and without intervention may spread broadly and randomly.
