Description The vegetable - annual Cucurbita pepo (summer squash) produces showy, bright yellow, fragrant and repeat-blooming blossoms during early summer to mid-fall. This plant is climbing in form and has matte and coarse textured foliage that is greyish green in colour. Showy and bi-coloured greyish green fruit are produced by Cucurbita pepo (summer squash).
Typical Uses Annual, culinary, ground cover, vegetable garden and vine or climber.
Cautions The growth rate of Cucurbita pepo (summer squash) is very fast and you should plan for this in your garden design and layout. Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
