Description Celtis occidentalis (common hackberry) bears medium green flowers during mid-spring. This tree is spreading in form and has dark lime and pastel yellow foliage that is has a lighter coloured underside and medium textured. The fruit produced by Celtis occidentalis (common hackberry) is deep magenta. The bark is cork-like in texture.
