Description The shrub Calluna vulgaris 'Allegro' (heather) bears showy, bright red and fragrant blossoms during mid-summer to mid-fall. This plant is clump forming and has matte, fine textured and evergreen foliage that is deep green in colour. The bark is smooth in texture.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, border, container, cut flowers, edging, ground cover and foundation.
Special Characteristics This shrub attracts butterflies to your garden.
Cautions Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
