Description Aucuba japonica 'Variegata' (Japanese aucuba) bears faded purple blossoms during early spring. This shrub is rounded in form and has spotted bright yellow and deep green foliage that is showy, glossy, coarse textured and evergreen. The fruit produced by Aucuba japonica 'Variegata' (Japanese aucuba) is showy. The bark is striped and smooth in texture.
