Description Aubrieta deltoidea (purple rockcress) bears showy, faded purple and fragrant blooms during late spring to early summer. This herbaceous perennial is mat forming and has dark aquamarine and greyish green foliage that is matte, medium textured and semi-evergreen.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden and border.
Special Characteristics Aubrieta deltoidea is tolerant of drought and salt.
Cautions The growth rate of Aubrieta deltoidea (purple rockcress) is fast and you should plan for this in your garden design and layout. Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
