Description The herbaceous perennial Aster novi-belgii 'Alert' (michaelmas daisy) bears showy, bright red and fragrant blossoms during late summer to mid fall. The matte foliage is medium green in colour and medium in texture.
Typical Uses Accent, bedding plant, border, container, cut flowers, edging, mass planting and wild flower.
Special Characteristics Butterflies are attracted to Aster novi-belgii 'Alert' . This plant has a natural ability to resist rabbits, and it is tolerant of salt.
Cautions Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
