Description Asarum canadense (Canadian wild ginger) bears brown blossoms during mid spring. This herbaceous perennial is spreading in form and has greyish green foliage that is showy, glossy and medium textured.
Typical Uses Alpine or rock garden, border, container, edging, ground cover, mass planting, wild flower and woodland.
Special Characteristics Asarum canadense is noted for being naturally resistant to deer.
Cautions Be advised that Asarum canadense (Canadian wild ginger) may be invasive where conditions are favourable. In such cases it will require maintenance to keep it under control. This plant is self-sowing, and without intervention may spread broadly and randomly.
