Cautions
The growth rate of Alpinia zerumbet (shell ginger) is fast and you should plan for this in your garden design and layout. Depending upon your local conditions, Alpinia zerumbet (shell ginger) may be invasive. Self-sowing, this plant can spread broadly and randomly where conditions are ideal for the seeds to germinate. However, this can be a benefit if you plan to use this plant in naturalizations.
